Captivating the imagination and labelled the toughest footrace on earth (Discovery Channel) the Marathon des Sables is an unforgiving ultra-race over six days across the Moroccan Sahara desert, covering between 150 and 156 miles (254km) in temperatures topping 120 degrees Fahrenheit! Participants carry all their own kit for the duration of the race, including essential survival equipment, food and daily water rations.
So why put yourself through all that you might ask? Simple really, because ‘every child deserves a childhood’, a philosophy endorsed by Hope For Children, who are a charity committed to improving the lives of children and their families throughout the UK and across the globe. It is a most worthy cause and one I hope you will also pledge your support to, through donation, and thus joining me on this very special and very long journey. You can keep up to date with funding and training events posted on the blog section of this page and I invite you to recommend a feel-good song to add to my MdS play list (get creative!). This will help keep my spirts up by thinking of your support and generosity when tackling the sand and sun! Thank you in advance for all your help and encouragement.
